About Us – Bushman Plains Camp
Bushman Plains Camp is founded by Olatotse Sarefo—known as “Ola”—a pioneer in Botswana’s safari industry and a leader for his people. Ola is among the first Bukakwe Bushmen to become a professional safari guide, and he brings this lifetime of experience to create an unmatched, authentic safari in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Ola’s journey in conservation and community advocacy includes a groundbreaking role as the first Bushman elected to office in Botswana, where he served as District Councilman for the Guidigwa/Vumbura region, representing five villages. His commitment to the land, people, and heritage is woven into the mission of Bushman Plains Camp.
Our Mission
To offer a safari experience that not only celebrates the Okavango Delta’s incredible wildlife but also preserves and honors the Bushman culture. By sharing the ancient knowledge and skills of the Bushmen, we aim to foster a deep connection between our guests and the natural world, encouraging sustainable tourism that supports both the environment and local communities.
Our Vision
To be Botswana’s leading Bushman-owned safari camp, recognized for authentic cultural and wildlife experiences that protect the Okavango Delta’s ecosystems. We envision a future where traditional Bushman knowledge and conservation come together to create transformative experiences for our guests while empowering and uplifting local communities.
At Bushman Plains Camp, we welcome you to experience an Okavango Delta safari that blends rich heritage, world-class wildlife, and a deep respect for the land and its people. Through Ola’s leadership, we aim to bring the spirit of the Okavango to every adventure.
