Okavango Delta – The Ultimate African Safari at Bushman Plains Camp
The Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable safari destinations, offering an unparalleled wildlife experience. Nestled in the northwest region where the Okavango River fans out to create the world’s largest inland delta, Bushman Plains Camp is perfectly positioned in this awe-inspiring landscape. With access to permanent water channels and open plains, our camp sits amid some of the best game viewing in the Delta, allowing us to provide exclusive wildlife experiences without the crowds.

Our guests enjoy an extraordinary range of ecosystems—from floodplains and lagoons to lush forested islands and open grasslands—all supporting the diverse Okavango Delta wildlife. Here, you’ll experience off-road tracking, thrilling night drives, and the unique opportunity to see an impressive variety of animals, birds, and reptiles, including some of the Okavango’s rarest and most iconic species.
This region is especially famous for predator sightings, including endangered African wild dogs and lions. The Ash Pack of wild dogs, with more than 20 members, has denned here since 2011, and sightings of another group, the Golden Pack, are common near our camp. We’re also fortunate to observe two lion prides that hunt large prey like buffalo and hippo. Elephants roam in great numbers, and sightings of the rare sable antelope are frequent. Unlike other parts of Botswana, the Delta’s green season from November to March still attracts high numbers of elephants and buffalo, providing outstanding game viewing all year.
Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the endangered wattled crane and the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, among a rich diversity of birdlife.
At Bushman Plains Camp, we honor the heritage of our Bushman ancestors, who first settled here 10,000 years ago, choosing these lands for their abundant wildlife. Today, we invite you to experience the Okavango Delta’s beauty, wildlife, and culture through the eyes of those who have known it best.
